New York, NY, 4:00 PM - The Bells of St. Paul's Chapel ring in four sets of five rings, the Fire Department's tribute to a fallen comrade. All visitors at the Chapel pause for ten minutes for prayers for peace. Emily of St. Pauls Chapel Staff asks all present to observe for a minute of silence to remember those who died on September 11, 2001, for those volunteers who worked through the aftermath, for those who continue to suffer, and for everyone still working for healing and peace.
The Peace Light flame from Bethlehem was then transferred by Scouter Jim Sorrenson to a Candle which will be maintained at the St. Paul's Chapel Altar for the rest of the year. Tapers lit with the Peace Light flame were distributed to all present and we together recited the Prayer of St. Francis.
