I took the attached photo May 19, 2011 while in the tiny grotto upon which the Church of the Nativity is constructed. If you look closely on the right hand side you will see one of the lamps burning..."The Peace Light"--these lamps are the only source of light in the little stone cave. Pretty cool! Thanks for helping me out with our Candlelight service for tomorrow night by providing the light. Blessings, Lonny Poe |

On Friday, 23 December 2011, the Zajac family had the opportunity to share the Peace Light from Bethlehem with the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Demetrios in Elmhurst, IL. Presbyter (Pastor) Rev. Andrew Georganas accepted the Peace Light from Ukrainian Scouts Yuriy, Lisa and Andriy Zajac, and used the flame to light a candle on the altar of the church. The Peace Light will be shared with the congregation during the Christmas liturgy and then spread further with the greater Greek Orthodox community. Six year old Andriy attends the Pythagoras Children's Academy elementary school associated with the church. Dear Friends, I am so very grateful for your Gift. As I went to inquire about buying a lantern to bring the Leace Light to our home for the celebration of Christ's birth, the salesman at Menard's, Jason, told me he had purchased the last one for the Peace Light Project. Sadly I walked away, then was inspired ( I call these "God-incidences" as all good and perfect gifts are from above) to go back and ask where he would be with the lantern and could I bring a candle there to transport the flame. I called the St. Paul Lutheran Church and got approval from Pastor Bernard, and with his secretary's assistance lit the Christmas candle (as the organist practiced with Silent Night playing) that would burn in my home for the next two days, until I carried it in for our Christmas Prayer. We each lit a white candle representing the light we received on Jesus birthday and placed them in our advent wreath, with the Peace Light as the centerpiece (see photo). Then we sang Happy Birthday to Jesus as is our tradition. This past year both my husband and his mother have departed for their heavenly homes. Your project was a central blessing to my Christmas and helped us feel connected with our loved ones who now reside with Jesus . Thank you so very much! Jo Kay Boyle in Ankeny, Iowa | |
